Deal on Porto Trieste-Neuss corridor signed at the Munich fair

07 June, 11:42
(ANSA) - TRIESTE - The goal is to strengthen the 2016 Memorandum of Understanding, focusing on collaboration in the fields of logistics and innovation applied to businesses, so as to create a customs corridor that, linking Trieste to Munich, would open new growth prospects for the economy of central and southern Europe. This road-map was outlined during the summit between Fvg governor Massimiliano Fedriga and the Bavarian Minister for Federal, Community and International Affairs, Florian Herrmann, held at the State Chancellery in Munich. The talks, in addition to the technical aspects linked to the ongoing cooperation between the two regions, also focused on the political relationship between Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Land, a press release issued by the Fvg Region reported. According to Fedriga, strengthening ties with areas which are similar for historical and cultural reasons is "a necessary condition to broaden the range of opportunities for our economy, which is going through a very positive phase in terms of bilateral relations and is, therefore, strongly oriented to growth". The governor invited Minister Herrmann to visit Fvg in the autumn "in order to assess, along with his colleague Reichhart, the progress of the single projects and to personally evaluate platforms on which we could further develop our strong partnership". Fedriga is in Germany to attend Transport Logistic. On Tuesday, as part of the fair in which the Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce and Area Science Park participate, the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea and the Kombiverkehr group have signed a memorandum of understanding which aims to enhance an intermodal corridor between the port of Trieste and the terminal of Neuss Trimodal, located on the Rhine near Düsseldorf and managed by Kombiverkehr.
