EU election: Visegrad nominated Sevcovic for EC president

Czech newspaper, 'but they could support Barnier or Georgieva'

28 May, 12:15
(ANSA) - PRAGUE, MAY 28 - The countries of the Visegrad group (Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia) nominated Maros Sevcovic, current vice-president of the group and former candidate for the presidency of the Republic in Slovakia, for EC president. That is what the Czech economic daily Hospodarske (Hn) reported today. According to Hospodarske (Hn), the V4 countries could anyway support the nomination of Michel Barnier or the vice president of the World Bank Kristalin Georgieva for the head of the EU Commission, asking for Sevcovic the role of head of the European diplomacy now played by Federica Mogherini.
