Serbia: media, early voting possible on June 23

Vucic, snap election is now more likely to be held

26 March, 12:41
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MARCH 26 - If there were early elections in Serbia, the vote could be held on June 23, according to the Belgrade-based Alo daily newspaper. President Aleksandar Vucic spoke of possible early elections last night at the end of a meeting of his Serbian progress party (SNS, conservative). Vucic said that a decision has not yet been made (the parliament's term expires in spring 2020). However, the president pointed out, early voting now seems more likely. According to the head of state, snap election could be held either in June or in spring. All the polls give the SNS party a clear lead over the Alliance for Serbia (SZS), which includes all the opposition parties and movements. The president's party is given a significant percentage, between 50% and 55%, compared to 12/15% given to the SZS. (ANSA).
