(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 21 - The contraction in the manufacturing sector in Germany continues. The relative PMI index, calculated by Markit/Bme, fell to 47.6 points in February from 49.7 in January, worse than official estimates, which had predicted a slight improvement to 49.8 points. The service sector did better, with the index rising to 55.1 points, from 53 in the previous month. The composite index, which monitors both sectors, rose to 52.7 points from 52.1 in January. This is the preliminary reading. The 50-point threshold is the watershed between expansion and contraction. (ANSA).
