Mogherini sees no justification for Russia attack to Ukraine
EU High Rep asks for release of Ukrainians in Kerch and Crimea

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, 17 DEC - "There is no justification for
the use of military force by Russia against Ukrainian vessels"
in the Kerch Strait, EU High Representative Federica Mogherini
said today after the EU-Ukraine Association Council in Brussels,
calling on for Ukrainian vessels and seamen seized from Moscow
on 25th November "to be released".
Brussels's support for the Ukrainian regions hit by Russia's military escalation, including a 50 million euros programme recently launched for Eastern Ukraine, was discussed at today's meeting. "The EU continues to be consistently at the side of the Ukrainian people," Mogherini highlighted. "We will not recognise the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia and have condemned the ongoing militarisation of the Crimean peninsula. We keep calling for the immediate release of all Ukrainian citizens detained illegally in the Crimean peninsula and in Russia, including Oleg Sentsov who has just been awarded the Sakharov Prize last week by the European Parliament," she added.(ANSA).
