Fedriga, let's tackle drop in birth-rate with other regions

FVG Governor at EGTC meeting, 'we should give strong answers'

26 November, 20:18

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, NOV. 26 - ''The drop in the birth-rate is a problem we have to cope with, giving strong answers in terms of services and resources, but also through a cultural process: the approval of the FVG's proposal to establish a working group with Carinthia and Veneto to tackle the issue, within the programme of the Euregio, European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC), fills me with satisfaction because family policies are essential and as long as we share them, they can be even more successful''. That is what the FVG governor Massimiliano Fedriga said on the occasion of the 13th meeting of the EGTC, today in Klagenfurt, which was attended by the president of Carinthia, Peter Kaiser, the Councillor for Programming and EU Funds of the Veneto Region, Federico Caner, and representatives of the cross-border Chamber system. An agreement on production activities between the EGTC and the cross-border chamber system of Carinthia, FVG and Veneto was also signed. ''This deal - Fedriga underlined - aims to enhance collaboration not only in terms of economy and investment, but also in terms of innovation and mutual exchange of scientific and technical skills that can guarantee positive effects on our territories''. Reaffirming the importance of Euregio, ''one of the most virtuous teams in Europe, recognized by the EU as a best practice at international level'', Fedriga reiterated that ''the Region is ready to enhance its collaboration with the EGTC because the new model of Europe has to get started from the territories and I am convinced this is the correct way to give answers to European peoples''. Talking about the presence of the Istrian County of Croatia as a permanent observer of the EGTC - FVG Region reported - Fedriga has confirmed his will to carry on its informal participation until the revision of the Statute of the EGTC, then extending the collaboration to Slovenia.
