(ANSA) - UDINE, OCT.16 - ''Europe betrayed. Illusions and
disillusions'' will be the focus of the 14th International Forum
of the Aquileian Euroregion, scheduled in Udine on October 19
with the presence of numerous MEPs and diplomats from the New
Europe area, and at the end of which, scheduled for October 24
in Trieste at the regional headquarters, the European
commissioner for culture, education, sport and youth, Tibor
Navracsics will give a speech. That is what was the president of
the association Mitteleuropa, Paolo Petiziol, announced today in
Udine while presenting the initiative and explaining the spirit
of the Forum. ''Mitteleuropa intends once again to contribute to
the enhancement of a peaceful and constructive dialogue between
political, diplomatic, social, academic and cultural
institutions - he said - based in all the countries of
central-European and Balkan area, increasingly relevant and
strategic to us, and crucial especially for the Friuli Venezia
Giulia region ''.
The official presentation of the event, which will be
attended, among others, by Martina Dlabajova, MEP of the Czech
Republic, Attila Tiki, Hungay's MEP, Josef Miklosko, a member of
the Slovak parliament and former vice-minister of the
Czechoslovak Republic, was attended by Regional Councillor for
Culture Tiziana Gibelli. ''The Forum is a very important event -
she said -, because this region and Italy would remain an
isolated country without relations, which must be strengthened
at all levels and by any means''.
The Forum, organized under the aegis of the Fvg Region, CEI
(Central European Initiative), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and
which will be opened in Udine by the institutional ''welcome''
of the President of the Region Fvg, Massimiliano Fedriga, will
also be attended by part Stefano Bruno Galli, Councillor for
Culture of the Lombardy Region, and Luca Baraldi, expert member
of Itinera Foundation.
''The commissioner's visit assumes great importance -
Petiziol added -, as Navracsics was a keynote speaker at the
Mitteleuropa Forum held last year in Udine''. In Trieste, the
commissioner will be welcomed by the president of the FVG Region
Fedriga, with whom he will discuss issues related to European
policies in favour of culture, youth and sport.(ANSA).
