(ANSA) - VIENNA, AUG 30 - ''In July and August we discussed
some proposals'' to resolve the issue of new rules on landing
points of the Sophia anti-trafficking mission, ''including
proposals for mediation that I put on the table. There has been
no consensus until today, and as you know we need unanimity:
today I will see if there is room - and what kind of room -, to
find a response, which requires a constructive attitude and
responsibility from all the member states ''. That is what the
EU High Representative Federica Mogherini said today, entering
the meeting of EU defense ministers.
''With the EU defense ministers we have to tackle the issue
of the rules on landings'' of the Sophia operation. ''I
underline that this is not just a matter of the Sophia
operation, but it is a much wider problem that we cannot ignore,
and today I will ask the ministers for guidance on how to tackle
and resolve it''.
