(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUGUST 27 - A new meeting between Serbian
and Kosovar presidents, Aleksandar Vucic and Hashim Thaci, will
be held in Brussels on September 7 in the framework of
EU-mediated dialogue for the normalization of relations between
Belgrade and Pristina.
Today's Serbian media reported that the EU's High
representative for foreign affairs and security policy Federica
Mogherini will host the meeting as a mediator. According to the
media in Belgrade, president Vucic will announce his proposals
to resolve the Kosovo issue in a speech addressed to the Serbian
community during his visit to Kosovo on September 8 and 9. This
plan should then be submitted to a referendum in Serbia. In
recent weeks the debate around this thorny issue and the final
phase of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina has
intensified.
Local media have reported more insistently a possible
official demarcation of the border between Serbia and Kosovo and
an exchange of territories.
Belgrade does not recognise the independence proclaimed by
Pristina on February 17, 2008, and has never spoken of a border
between two sovereign states, but mentioned a potential
'administrative line' separating Serbia from the 'territory' of
Kosovo, that Serbia still considers its southern province, under
UN administration.
