(ANSA) - TRIESTE - The Municipality of Trieste with
TriesteLovesJazz and Casa della Musica/School of Music 55,
presented the 59th Ljubljana Festival, thus confirming the
connection between Trieste and the Slovenian capital.
Trieste hosts Ljubljana every year, reviving the "twinning" in
the name of jazz between the Slovenian festival and the event
that takes place in the capital of the FVG region.
TriesteLovesJazz will be introduced as early as Friday in the
context of Trieste Estate (Summer in Trieste) and will be
officially presented on June 19th, at 11 am, in the Sala Giunta
of the Trieste City Hall.
The Ljubljana jazz Festival is Europe's longest running
festival of its kind; always featuring today's music trends in
Europe. This year it will take place in Ljubljana from 27 to 30
June, and the Cankarjev Dom will host most of the scheduled
events. The concerts will be held in the beautiful Gallus Hall
(large auditorium, with perfect acoustics), at Cankarjev Dom
Park, at Cankarjev Dom Club and at Linhart Hall, the second
largest and most important hall in the building. The Festival
received the EJN AWARD award for the most adventurous festival
from the European Jazz Network. This year the festival combines
the best Slovenian proposals and a broad overview of European
jazz, with international jazz stars - including the Dave Holland
Trio, Zakir Hussain, Chris Potter, Dhafer Youssef quartet and
the famous percussionist Zlatko Kaučič, who will celebrate the
fortieth anniversary of his career in Ljubljana, along with
Stefano Battaglia (piano) and Salvatore Maiore (drums). (ANSA).
