EU-19: Eurostat confirms rise in inflation rate, 1.9% in May

Italy up to 1% from 0.6% in April

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JUNE 15 - Inflation in the eurozone rose to 1.9% in May from 1.3% recorded in April, according to Eurostat, that confirmed its flash estimate released on May 31.

In Italy inflation rose to 1.0% from 0.6% in April. The lowest rate was recorded in Ireland (0.7%) and Greece (0.8%), whereas the highest rates were registered in Romania (4.6%) and Estonia (3.1%). Looking at the individual components, the largest contribution to high rates comes from services (up 0.72%), followed by energy (up 0.58%) and food, alcohol and tobacco (up 0.50 %). (ANSA)
