Slovenia: Jansa will be appointed premier by president Pahor

After conservative leader's electoral success

(ANSA) - LUBIANA - Slovenia's president Borut Pahor has decided to entrust Janez Jansa, winner of the general election, whom he will meet next Thursday, with the task of forming a new government. According to a press release issued by the president's bureau, the meeting will be informal and aims to assess Janša's chances to form a new cabinet.

At least 46 votes are needed to form a government. According to the partial results announced by the electoral commission, which will be formalized in mid-June, the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) won 24.94% of the votes and 25 MPs, followed by the List led by Marjan Sarec (LMS) with 13 MPs, Social Democrats (SD) and the Modern Centre Party (SMC), with 10. In parliament sit also the Left (Levica) with 9 representatives, New Slovenia (NSi) with 7, the Party led by Alenka Bratusek (SAB) and the Democratic Party of Pensioners of Slovenia (DeSUS), with 5. The Slovenian National Party (SNS) re-entered the parliament after two legislations, with 4 MPs. (ANSA).
