(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 23 MAG - The Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and the president of the 'Dubai Port World' company, sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, signed today in Belgrade a memorandum of understanding and cooperation on development projects of river ports in the Balkan country, involving companies from the United Arab Emirates.

According to Mihajlovic, the Dubai Port World could start building a new port in Serbia next year. "A feasibility study will show whether their investment will be in Novi Sad, Smederevo or Belgrade," the government statement said.

Mihajlovic noted that Serbia will start to invest in the construction of new river ports after 40 years. The investments for those projects are worth more than 200 million euro, the minister said.
