Germany: SPD treasurer,66% voted in favour of the Koalition

Merkel, pleased to collaborate with SPD for country's welfare

(ANSA) - BERLIN, 04 MAR - The base of the SPD voted in favour of the Grosse Koalition with Angela Merkel with 66.02% of the vote: the treasurer of the party Dietmar Nietan said, at the Willy-Brandt-Haus.

''With this vote we have clarity: the SPD will enter the future government'', said Olaf Scholz, Commissioner of the German Social Democrats. Scholz underlined that the SPD now has the ''strength to govern and push the country in the right direction'' and ''to tackle the renewal, which has already got started''. And he added: ''It was not an easy decision''. ''I congratulate the SPD for this clear result, and I am pleased with a new collaboration for the welfare of our country'', tweeted the CDU, in the name of Angela Merkel, after the result of Social Democrats' vote, in favour of a government with the Union.(ANSA).
