(ANSA) - BELGRADE - Shooting is set to begin at the start of March on a film about the 1999 NATO bombing in Serbia, at about a hundred locations across the Balkans, including Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Republika Srpska (the Serbian-majority entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina).

The documentary will look at the consequences of the bombing as well as the environmental disasters that came as a result.

Belgrade daily Alo said the film will be translated into eight languages and will premiere in Serbia on March 24, 2019, the 20th anniversary of the start of the allied bombing.

It will also be screened in other countries, including those belonging to NATO.

Alo said American actor Johnny Depp and Russian filmmaker and actor Nikita Mikhalkov are slated to appear in the film.

After international negotiations failed, NATO decided to bomb Serbia in 1999 to force strongman Slobodan Milosevic to pull Serbian troops out of Kosovo and end the policy of repression and ethnic cleansing against the Albanian people. (ANSA).
