Easyjet inaugurates domestic flights in Germany

A competitor to Lufthansa, 15mn passengers to Berlin in 2018

(ANSA) - BERLIN - Easyjet inaugurates domestic flights in Germany: the first low-cost aircraft takes off on Friday from Berlin Tegel, to reach Munich.

After Air Berlin went bankrupt, the British company acquired 15 airplanes and announced its intention to compete in the domestic market with Lufthansa and its subsidiary Eurowings.

Starting next Sunday, Easyjet offers connections to Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich and Duesseldorf.

The goal is to increase the number of destinations from 19 up to 40, said European manager, Thomas Haagensen: ''This year we are expected to carry 15mn passengers to Berlin'', he pointed out. (ANSA).
