(ANSA) - UDINE - Not far from Italy, 110 km of well-equipped ski slopes, 30 modern cableways and ski lifts, 360 snow cannons, 25 huts and restaurants, snow guaranteed thanks to local climate, 100 hours of sunshine more than any other resort in northern Alps. These are some of the advantages offered by the ski-tourist area of Nassfeld-Pramollo, Carinthia (Austria), which presented today in Udine the novelties of the 2017- 2018 winter season, ready to open on December 7th. An early inauguration could be scheduled for December 2, because at present the resort boasts 75 cm of fresh and compacted snow.

Sonja Kucher, marketing coordinator, and Livio Fedrigo, entrepreneur and spokesperson for Nassfeld-Pramollo, described the season at Sorelle Ramonda (Nassfeld's partner) at Udine.

''We made a 19mn euro investment for this season to improve skiing and accommodation facilities'' said Fedrigo, explaining that compared to the 780,000 overnight stays recorded last winter, ''this year bookings increased by 25%''. This is a very good sign for the area, where tourist attendance is also expected to grow this year, while Nassfeld is looking at the Italian market, which accounts now only for 3% of the whole attendance. The country of origin of tourists are Austria, followed by Germany, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Hungary. Among the many novelties of the new season, numerous entertainment events from December to spring (including the world's longest skiing competition, scheduled for 26 and 27 January 2018 and the Full Metal Mountain Music Festival from 2 to 8 April), many special packages for families and children, a ski club dedicated to ski classes, a ski field dedicated to beginners, a new ski lift and a ski school building. Investments in quality and improvement of hotels ensure maximum satisfaction even among the most demanding guests. So the ''franzFerdinand Mountain Resort'' (formerly ''Cube Nassfeld'') was completely renovated. The wireless area network is wide and accessible: more than 20 access points allow you to connect to the Internet quickly and freely.

As for the Pontebba-Pramollo cableway (from Italy to Austria), a 85mn project which is still in a stalemate, Fedrigo said that ''there is an Eastern investor who is willing to cover 30% of the cost, Carinthia would participate financially in the cost, but also the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region should play its part''.
