(ANSA) - BELGRADE - Strengthening bilateral co-operation between Greece and Serbia and making a joint effort to consolidate stability, peace and security in the Balkans: these are the main goals of Greek president Prokopis Pavlopoulos's two-day official visit to Belgrade. Welcomed with all civil and military honors, president Pavlopoulos is scheduled to hold talks with Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic, prime minister Ana Brnabic and other top Serbian authorities. Speaking today with the local daily newspaper Politika, the Greek head of state emphasized Athens' will to continue and further strengthen the traditionally close and friendly relations between the two Balkan countries, which have strong cultural and religious affinities. The visit takes place 150 years after the signing of the treaty of alliance and friendship between Serbia and Greece. Both countries have an interest, said Pavlopoulos, in consolidating bilateral cooperation at all levels (political, economic and cultural). (ANSA)
