(ANSA) - BRUSSELS - Eurozone inflation in August rose to 1.5% from 1.3% in July. A year ago it was 0.2%, Eurostat reported..

In EU-28, inflation rose to 1.7%, from 1.5% in July, and 0.3% in August 2016.

The lowest rates were recorded in Ireland (0.4%), Cyprus (0.5%) Greece and Romania (0.6%). The highest rates were recorded in Lithuania (4.6%), Estonia (4.2%) and Latvia (3.2%). The biggest increases - in the eurozone - were recorded in transport fuels (up 0.16%), hotel services (up 0.10%) and air transport (up 0.06%), whereas a downturn was recorded in telecommunications (down 0, 12%), legumes (down 0.05%) and social protection (down 0.04%).
