Serbia: poll, 51.2% in favour of EU accession

Conservative party Sns led by Vucic at 46.4%

(ANSA) - BELGRADE - 51.2% of Serbian citizens is in favour of their country accession into the EU, the 36.3% is against, 12.5% do not have a clear idea, according to a recent poll conducted by the Nspm demoscopic institute, media reported today in Belgrade.

According to this poll, conducted on a sample of a thousand citizens, 77.7% is against Serbia's Nato membership, 8.6% in favour, whereas 60.8% supports the alliance of Serbia with Russia, which is refused by 19.5%.

In terms of support for the main parties, the poll confirmed that the Party of Serbian Progress (Sns, Conservative) led by the president Aleksandar Vucic, is in 'pole position', at 46.4%.

Free Movement (Psg) is ranked second, at 10.3%, followed by the Serbian Socialist Party (SPS) at 9.8% and Serbian Radical Party (Srs, Ultranationalist) at 5.3%. All other parties are below the 5% threshold. (ANSA).
