It was reached in talks between PM and workers

(ANSA) - BELGRADE - Serbia's Prime Minister Ana Brnabic reached an agreement with workers at the FCA factory in Kragujevac. Thanks to this deal, the strike which was going on since June 27 was suspended, Serbian national news agency Tanjug reported on Tuesday evening.

The agreement on the strike suspension came at the end of a two-hour meeting between the premier and the strike committee at Kragujevac City Hall. Production will resume at the Fca plant, while in Belgrade negotiations will begin between government, Fiat management and workers' representatives. Speaking to journalists, Brnabic thanked the workers, saying the government will do everything possible to meet their demands.

About 2,000 workers are seeking wage increases, a reorganization of their work activities, payment of productivity awards, and reimbursement of transport costs. This agreement, that put an end to a long strike, came after the workers called on the premier, numerous ministers and president Aleksandar Vucic, who underlined the heavy consequences of the long protest on the country's economy and on prospects for new foreign investment in Serbia. FCA, which in Kragujevac produces the Fiat 500L, is by far the first Serbian exporter. (ANSA).
