18 July, 15:45
(ANSA) - BRUXELLES - The accession process to the European Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina "will however depend upon the pace of reforms in the the country" and Brussels expects a "rapid signature" of the Treaty of the Transport Community, EU High Representative, Federica Mogherini, said after a meeting with Dragan Covic, the Bosnian president of the country's tripartite presidency, in Brussels.

The reform agenda "needs a new momentum both at State and Entity level, in particular in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and is to be implemented in a continuous and effective way", Mogherini explained.

In particular, Mogherini asks Covic to speed up the signature of the Treaty of the Transport Community after the Sarajevo government withdrew its support at the Western Balkans summit in Trieste on 12 July. Also the adoption of excise legislation is of "utmost importance". "Implementation of outstanding commitments reflects political will and determination to move the country forward", Mogherini pointed out. (ANSA).
