(ANSA) - TRIESTE - The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia supports Trieste as a candidate to host the Euroscience Open Forum in 2020. The announcement comes from a letter that the president Marko Čadež sent to Antonio Paoletti, the president of the Camber of Commerce Venezia Giulia in Trieste.

"I would like to express my sincere and enthusiastic support of Trieste as candidate to host Esof 2020", Čadež wrote. "Trieste is very well known in Europe and worldwide for its high concentration of national and international Scientific Institutions, functioning both as institutes of higher education as well as science and technology parks for high level research". Given that "creativity and innovation", Čadež added, "it could not be more fitting than for Trieste to be named the European City of Science".

An Esof in Trieste, Čadež wrote, "would be a unique opportunity to give Central and Eastern Europe countries more prominence in the European Scientific Community. This would be a milestone, through scientific, social, and political dialogue, in integration, the breaking down of barriers, and the reinforcement of the principles of peace and freedom".

According to Antonio Paoletti "the Serbian support is an important step in order to obtain the support of all the Chambers of Commerce in the Balkan area". (ANSA)
