Romania bids to host European Medicines Agency

Government wishes EMA to be located in Bucharest after Brexit

23 March, 20:10
(ANSA) - TRIESTE - Romania will officially apply to host the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in Bucharest after the United Kingdom leaves the EU, according to Euractiv Romania. "We are bidding for the agency's move to Romania. It's going to be a tough race but we're prepared for that. The government just approved a memorandum in this sense," EU Affairs Minister Ana Birchall said on Wednesday. In seven years of EU membership Romania has lost tens of thousands of health professionals to Western European countries, Euractiv reports. At the same time Romania is the European member with the highest number of medical graduates. (ANSA).
