(ANSA) - BRUSSELS - It's important for Rome Declaration to be signed by all 27 EU countries and this requires ''a commonly shared theme: however, we should avoid reaching an agreement which is too low-level'' according to the president of the Institute of International Affairs (IAI) , Ferdinando Nelli Feroci, in an interview with ANSA ahead of Saturday's summit in Rome. The meeting will be attended by all the heads of state and government of the EU countries except Britain. ''The most important goal - he said - is to identify a kind of road map, in order to address issues such as social inclusion, security, European defense''. As for the 'multi-speed perspective, Nelli Feroci underlined that it's necessary to ''take into account a real situation, which is differentiated integration, something the EU has been experiencing for a long time''. The president of IAI remains ''cautiously optimistic'' about the future of the Union and the outcome of the elections in France, where the candidate Macron ''has reached a high popularity rate with a pro-European platform''. If Macron is elected and Merkel or Schulz win - as expected - in Germany, ''there will be all the conditions for a revival of an integration process that is driven by the Franco-German alliance.
