(ANSA-AP) - MUNICH - Vice President Mike Pence is seeking to reassure skeptical allies in Europe about American foreign policy under President Donald Trump.

Pence delivered a speech in Germany on Saturday during an annual gathering of diplomats and security officials, the Munich Security Conference, and then meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Pence is also scheduled to sit down with the leaders of the Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko - all countries dealing with the threat of Russian incursion - along with Turkey's prime minister.

Pence's first overseas trip as vice president will include a stop in Brussels on Sunday and Monday.
