Ports: Trieste, 1st train along the Adriatic-Baltic corridor

On Wednesdays to Kiel-Gothenburg from Greece-Turkey

(ANSA) - TRIESTE - Wednesday, January 25, the first intermodal train scheduled on the Kiel-Gothenburg route will travel from the Port of Trieste for the transport of containers, semi-trailers and swap bodies, on arrival and departure by sea from Turkey and Greece to and from the Baltic area. This train - Trieste Port Authority announced today- will depart at 11am from Trieste and reach Kiel (Germany) at 13pm the following day. The load will continue its travel from there by boat to reach Gothenburg (Sweden), on Friday morning. This service is the first operational link along the TEN-T Adriatic-Baltic corridor.

The initiative was launched at the request of Ekol, logistics operator that uses the Terminal EMT of Pier VI and has recently acquired a majority stake. The train will be composed of 16 ''Poche'' double wagons with a load capacity of 32 UTI (intermodal units from 45 or 13.6 meters). The initial frequency of a train per week will be implemented according to the increase of load volumes, up to quickly reach three weekly rotations.(ANSA).
