Migrants: Slovenia, 86% in favor of harsh control measures
According to poll. New law would enable to reject asylum seekers
16 January, 16:29The controversial legislation proposed would enable Slovenia, in case of a new migrant crisis, to reject migrants at the border, including asylum seekers.
A reported 22% of Slovenians interviewed for the poll published by newspaper Delo on Monday were in favor.
The draft law also provides for the immediate deportation of people caught in illegal crossings.
Some 47% said they believed criticism of the measures expressed by human rights groups and the Council of Europe were unjustified.
The Slovenian Parliament will start examining the legislation next week. (ANSA).
