(ANSA) - TRIESTE - "Eataly Trieste will be the first cross-border Eataly". Francesco Farinetti, CEO of the Italian food giant, is enthusiastic about the opening of the new store in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. Trieste, few kilometers from the Slovenian border and at the crossing of Italy, Austria and Croatia, has a mixed identity and a long tradition of cosmopolitism. The new Eataly store will reflect the character of the city, according to Farinetti, gathering products not only from Italy but also from the neighbouring areas. Eataly Trieste is opening to the public tomorrow. The customer base will reach nearly 3 millions people from different countries, according to the food company.

"For us it is like opening in Italy and abroad at the same time", Fainetti said. The store is setted inside an historical building on the sea-front of Trieste. Farinetti presented in a press conference on Monday morning, together with project manager Antonio De Paolo and Eataly's executive chairman Andrea Guerra. "When we open a new store we study the identity of the place", Farinetti said. "We want every single Eataly to be unique. Trieste requested us to open our minds. In a historical moment so focused on borders, we wanted to open our store not only to products from Italy, but also from the neighbouring territories". Eataly is the biggest Italian food hall in the world, and each store comprises not only restaurants but also bakery, food and beverage counters, retail items. Eataly's first store was opened in Turin in 2007. (ANSA).
