(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 21 SET - Works on the enlargement of the Budapest airport are to start in December, local media reported.

The 17 million euros (5.1 billion forints) investment aims at expanding the 2B Terminal for a total of 27 gates and ten air bridges. The works, which should be completed in 18 months, should guarantee to increase the airport's annual capacity from the current 11-12 million to 15-16 million passengers per year.

The investment is part of the Bud2020 project worth 50 billion forints, launched in June. The project also envisions the construction of the airport hotel and improvements in terms of goods transport facilities and security. (ANSA).
