(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 03 MAG - The political opposition in
Montenegro should submit today all the names of their
representatives which will cover roles in the ad-interim
Government, as agreed by the agreement for fair elections signed
with the prime minister Milo Djukanovic last week.
The agreement, result of 5-month long negotiations, is a
compromise to the requests for Djukanovic's resignation. The
prime minister, cornered by the abandoment of its long-term
coalition partner, SDP, agreed to allow the opposition to
control several ministries - Interiors, Agriculture, Labour and
Finances - in order to allow it bigger control over the abuse of
public resources during the campaign for the October
parliamentary elections.
According to the agreement - which is to be put in action
through a special law to be voted over the next days - also
concedes the opposition 50 positions within the Government-owned
companies and 150 in the local administrations.
Other than Djukanovic and its former coalition partner, SDP,
the agreement has been signed by two small parties of the
political centre - Ura and Demos.
The biggest opposition group, Demokratski Front, Df, did not
sign it, as they are against any comprimise with Djukanovic.
Since last September, Df has been organising street protests in
which they ask for Djukanovic's resignation and early elections.
