(ANSA) - FLORENCE, MAY 5 - Pictures that tell one of the great emergencies of the contemporary world, through the pics belonging to Italy's ANSA news agency, focusing on the role of women in migration, go on display in the exhibition ''Women on the march'', hosted from Thursday May 5 by the yard of Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, on the official opening of ''the State of the Union'', the traditional meeting organized by the European University Institute in the Tuscan capital and attended by some of the most important personalities in the EU.

More than 30 large images chosen among the most significant photos belonging to ANSA, a news agency that - thanks to its journalists and photographers - has always reported what happens between the Middle East and Europe, the south shore and the north shore of the Mediterranean Sea, the Syrian border and the European boundaries.

The exhibition is divided into four chapters - waiting, fear, hope and happiness - and is dedicated to the courage of women, migrants and refugees, one of the issues during ''The State of the Union''.
