Migrants: Faymann, Germany will follow Vienna's example

Austrian Chancellor, 'They took steps that Germany will follow'

17 February, 15:26
(ANSA) - BERLIN - Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann is convinced that Berlin will follow the example of Vienna, introducing more restrictive measures in refugee policies.

''Governments must make their decisions looking at the reality - he told the Kurier -. We did it, and I think we have taken steps that Germany will follow. I am personally convinced that we will soon act in unison again''. Initially, the Austrian government had an open attitude towards the crisis, in line with Merkel's policy. Vienna recently announced, however, much more restrictive measures, by putting a cap on the reception of asylum seekers, strengthening controls and expulsions along the country's southern borders.
