(ANSA) - BELGRADE - Serbia aims to boost its agriculture sector by 2020 thanks to the 400 million funds pledged by the EU, Agriculture Minister Snezana Bogosavljevic-Boskovic said.

"Some 175 million euro funds have been announced to help the farmers. These are EU funds and if we add to it the national co-financing of 25%, a total of 230 million euro will be available to the farmers," Boskovic said. She also said that in 2016 farmers will have 30 million euros from the EU funds at their disposal, adding that on average about 60% of the costs is refunded in line within the IPARD program. "This means that the farmers have to invest part of the funds, and it is expected that by 2020 investments in the agriculture sector only on that basis will be around 400 million euros," she added.
