Germany: report on army, staff and armaments are deficient

Only 177,000 soldiers. "The deficit should be recognised"

26 January, 17:46

(ANSA) - BERLIN - Since the Cold War, the German army has been gradually reduced until it reached ''only 177,000 active soldiers at the end of 2015''. This announcement was made in Berlin, during the presentation of an official report on the Bundeswehr, by the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Armed Forces Hans-Peter Bartels. ''Staff and armaments are deficient'', he explained. The army has hit a ''turning point, further reductions are not possible, since our tasks are getting harder. We have to recognise the deficit and fill our defensive holes''. (ANSA).
