(ANSA) - LJUBLJANA, DEC. 13 - Yesterday Slovenia started building a metal fence even along the Istrian border with Croatia, near the Rakitove and Dragonja crossings, not far from the border between Slovenia and Italy, so as to stem a possible flow of refugees. The operation involves about one hundred military: 60 soldiers at Dragonja and 30 at Rakitovec.

According to Slovenian media, the construction of the fence has caused a general disappointment among the population of Istria, who are arguing, among other things, that the border between Slovenia and Croatia in Istria is far less likely to be crossed by migrants. Even the mayor of Piran, Peter Bossman, expressed ''deep disappointment''.
