Srebrenica massacre, Laura Boldrini at 20th anniversary

Amb.Corrias: respect for victims, reconciliation, concert

30 June, 15:28
(ANSA) - SARAJEVO - ''Italy will be attending the commemoration of Srebrenica massacre on July 11, in the person of the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Laura Boldrini. Two days before, in Rome, a commemoration will take place in parliament.

Twenty years after the massacre, the goal of our country is threefold: respect and solidarity for the victims and their families; the hope that justice will be completely achieved with regard to those who were held responsible for the massacre; we need to turn the page, though acknowledging the international community's responsibility for what happened and preventing individual responsibilities from falling on the people''. This is what Italian Ambassador to Bosnia Herzegovina Ruggero Corrias said in an interview with the Bosnian weekly 'Start'. ''It's necessary to turn the page - Corrias added -, that is why, in the aftermath of a sad and divisive day, thanks to the Concert for Peace that will be performed by La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, strongly backed by the Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni, Italy will turn its gaze to the future of Bosnia and will spread a universal message of peace and dialogue between different cultures, ethnic groups and religions''.(ANSA).
