Greece, Juncker says 'betrayed' by greek 'egotism'

"Never proposed" wage and pension cuts

29 June, 13:36
(ANSA) - BRUSSELS - European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker said Monday he felt "betrayed" and "saddened" by what he called Greece's "egotism" in negotiations over its aid plan that broke down on Friday. "I am saddened... the good will has evaporated, the selfishness and tactical games of populists prevailed. I feel betrayed," said Juncker.

Juncker said that the EC did not ever propose wage and pension cuts in Greece during crisis negotiations, but only changes to "modernize" pay scales. Juncker said that some reports have misrepresented the position of creditors in talks with Athens that broke off Friday.
