(ANSA) - LJUBLJANA - Klavdija Markez is Slovenia's new
education minister, on a vote of 46 to 16 in Parliament. Soon
after the election, the new minister stated that ''the
responsibility that you put on my shoulders is huge. But I am
confident that in the end I will be led by good sense,
consensus, social dialogue, and, last but not least, by my
heart''.
Klavdija Markez is MP of the largest party in the coalition,
the Smc led by premier Miro Cerar. She replaced Stanka Setnikar
Cankar, who resigned.
This resignation was due to political pressure and came after
local media reported that, in addition to her college professor
salary, the former Minister had received more than 600,000 euros
for freelance work done over the past 10 years, mostly in her
office at University, where she worked on a permanent basis.
