(ANSA) - TRIESTE - Russian president Vladimir Putin said
that the new natural gas pipeline could reach Central Europe
through Greece and Macedonia instead of passing through
Bulgaria, the Macedonian news agency Mia reported, citing the
declaration made by Putin during an encounter with journalists
held Thursday.
The new project, developed after the annulment of South Stream
due to obstacles imposed by the EU, foresees bringing Russian
gas up to the Turkish-Greek border, while leaving the
possibility for the pipeline to be extended to Central Europe
through the Balkans. The South Stream project did not foresee
including Macedonia. (ANSA)
