18 December, 20:02

(ANSA) - TRIESTE - According to the opinion poll published in the Inscop research centre in Romania, more than 40% of Romanians thinks that the situation in the country is worse today than during the communist regime lead by Nicolae Ceausescu. According to this poll, only 33% of the questioned thinks that the current situation is better than in 1989, while 17% finds that things have remained the same.

The Inscop analysts explained that such results are not a sign of a nostalgic wave towards the communist regime, but more a reaction to the negative circumstances - in terms of possibility of finding a permanent job, or poor health and education system - considered worse than before 1989. The most disappointed are Romanians over 50 years old.

Namely, 45,8% of the questioned in this age group retains that living conditions in Romania today are worse than 25 years ago.

The poll has been commissioned by the Adevarul daily. (ANSA).
