Tourism in Vienna, record results in 2014

Growth in flows from Italy, the fourth market

(ANSA) - TRIESTE - After the record numbers in 2013, with 5.7 million arrivals (+4.1% compared to 2012) and 12.7 million overnight stays (+ 3.7%), Vienna in 2014 continues to achieve record-breaking results: from January to September this year 4.5 million arrivals (+ 5.7%) and 8.7 million overnight stays (+ 6.3%) were recorded, according to Vienna Tourist Board. A particularly significant growth was recorded in tourism flows from the US and Asia. Vienna has seen a strong growth even in relation to Italian guests: from January to August 2014 178 649 arrivals (+10.6%) and 451 965 overnight stays (+ 12.9%) were recorded. Due to this results, Italy exceeds the levels achieved in 2012 and is currently fourth among the most important tourism markets in the international ranking of overnight stays (2013: 5th place).(ANSA).
