(ANSA) - TRIESTE - Despite a slight decline in the number of
arrivals and overnight stays in September, the summer tourist
season in Austria - which in terms of statistics will officially
close by the end of October - should be completed with positive
results, according to a press release issued today by Statistics
Austria.
Taking into account preliminary data, during the period May-
September 2014 the country. recorded more than 60 million
overnight stays (+ 0.7% year-on-year), that is the best result
since 1995.
According to the National Statistical Office in Vienna, the
number of overnight stays due to Austrian tourists (18 million)
remained stable over the period considered, while those due to
foreigners (42 million) increased by 1%.
Another remarkable fact is the decline in overnight stays of
Italian tourists (-4.2%) and of those from Netherlands (-0.5%),
while those of German tourists are stable, since they are
particularly keen on spending their holidays in Austria (22.5
million overnight stays between May and September). (ANSA).
