New Europe: in Udine 10th Forum Aquileia Euroregion

(ANSA) - UDINE - Vaclav Klaus, president emeritus of the
Czech Republic, and Alexey Gromyko, grandson of the famous
Foreign Minister of the Soviet Union Andrej Gromyko (born in
1909 and dead in 1989) and director of the Institute for Europe
within the Russian Academy of Sciences, will be among the
speakers at the 10th international Forum of Aquileia Euroregion,
which will be held in Udine on October 23 and 24.
This Forum, presented in the capital town of Friuli by Paolo Petiziol, president of ''Mitteleuropa'', the cultural association which has organized the event, will focus on the following issue: ''Europe without Europe. Crisis in Europe or Europe in crisis?''. The conference, divided into four panels, will be attended by Italian MPs and MEPs, as well as numerous diplomatic missions and institutional delegations from all the countries in the New Europe: Austria, Croatia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Hungary and Ukraine. ''A particularly interesting section - Petiziol underlined - will be the panel dedicated to the relations between the EU and Russia, during which Andryi Veselovsky, head of Ukraine's Foreign Ministry Crisis Unit, will meet with Alexey Gromyko from Russia''. The initiative was commented on ''with satisfaction'' today by Vincenzo Martines, regional councilor and chairman of the 5th Commitee on local government, culture and sport. The Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giuia, along with the CEI, is firmly committed to supporting the Forum ''since it is increasingly important for this Region - Martines said - to start building and developing a structured relationship with the regions of Europe''. Martines has also welcomed the idea, launched by Petiziol, to host in Friuli Venezia Giulia in the future a ''small Cernobbio conference dedicated to international relations''. On October 24, the 10th international Forum of Aquileia Euroregion will be also attended by the president of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia Debora Serracchiani.(ANSA).
