Faux pas on Russian Tv, map of Serbia without Kosovo

Putin has reiterated that Moscow will not recognize independence

(ANSA) - TRIESTE - A technical error or a faux pas, which, however, has caused a big fuss in Serbia. Faux pas of the Russian TV 'Perviy Kanal' (75% owned by the government), while reporting President Vladimir Putin's visit to Belgrade, during the military parade organized on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the city from the Nazi occupation, has accompanied a news report with a map of the Balkan country. This map, however, did not include Kosovo, which declared independence in 2008, but is considered as an integral part of Serbia by Belgrade and Moscow, which did not recognize Pristina's independence and will not move in this direction, Putin reiterated yesterday. The online versions of some Serbian newspapers displaying nationalist tendencies have kicked up a fuss, saying that the television in Moscow ''snatched Kosovo from Serbia''. Some other media, more moderate, described the incident as ''a faux pas'', stressing that even some Serbian televisions made mistakes while reporting Putin's visit to Belgrade. TV B92, for example, presented in a caption Vladimir Putin as ''president of Serbia'', the daily newspaper Blic dryly pointed out. (ANSA).
