Industry, sharp increase in production in Hungary & Slovenia

Eurostat: in July, good results even in Estonia and Croatia

(ANSA) - TRIESTE - Hungary (12.3%) and Slovenia (+9.2%) were the EU countries of the New Europe which recorded the biggest increases in industrial production in a comparison between July 2014 and July 2013.

Only Ireland has had better results (17.6%). The news was reported by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, which has also revealed that, between July 2014 and June 2014, Estonia (+2.8%), Slovenia (+2.3%) and Croatia (+ 2.1%) are among the EU member countries which recorded - after Ireland (+11.3%) - the best industrial growth rate. In a year-on-year comparison, between July 2014 and July 2013, positive signs were also recorded in the Czech Republic (+6%), Germany (3%), Estonia (+2.3%), Croatia (+1, 4%), Lithuania (+2.3%), Poland (+2.3%), Romania (+5.1%). Decreases in the production rate on an annual basis were, on the contrary, recorded in Bulgaria (-0.2%), Greece (-2.3%) and Latvia (-1.5%). Eurostat estimates indicate that in July 2014 compared with June 2014, seasonally adjusted industrial production grew by 1% in the eurozone and by 0.7% in the EU-28, after a drop by 0.3% and 0.1%, respectively, recorded in June. In July 2014, production increased compared with July 2013 by 2.2% in the eurozone and by 2% in the EU as a whole. (ANSA).
