13 September, 18:50

(ANSA) - SARAJEVO - The campaign for the general election to be held next October 12 has officially been started in Bosnia. As it was announced by the Central Election Commission, 3.3 million Bosnians entitled to vote (women are 42%), can choose from 113 political entities: 65 political parties, 24 coalitions and 24 independent candidates.

The country will vote to elect a tripartite presidency (a Muslim, a Serb and a Croat), the Members of the central parliament and those of the two territorial entities into which post-war Bosnia is divided (the Federation of BH, Muslim-Croat majority, and the Republika Srpska, Rs, Serb majority), the President and the two Vice-Presidents of the RS and the councils of the 10 cantons which make up the Federation of BH.

According to a survey conducted by an NGO, the ruling parties which won the last general election in 2010 have fulfilled only 3% of the promises they made during the election campaign, fewer than the previous term of office, when 5% of the promises had been fulfilled. (ANSA).
