Greece, unemployment rate drops to 27% in June

The figure was the lowest since January 2013, Elstat says

(ANSA) - ATHENS - Greece's unemployment rate dropped to 27% in June, compared to 27.1% in May, the country's Hellenic Statistical Authority (Elstat) announced as reported by Kathimerini online. The agency's report showed that 1,303,884 people were out of work in June. The figure was the lowest to be recorded in the crisis-stricken country since January, 2013, when it stood at 26.8%, but was more than double of the eurozone average which stood at 11.5% in July. Joblessness among women reached 31.1%, while the unemployment rate of those aged between 15 and 24 stood at 51.5% and those aged between 25 and 34 at 35.6%. The regions facing the highest unemployment rates in June were Epirus and western Macedonia (27.6%) followed by Macedonia and Thrace (27.5%). (ANSA).
