28 August, 18:06

(ANSA) - TRIESTE - The unemployment rate in Germany (6.7%) has remained unvaried in August, but the number of the unemployed grew unexpectedly by 2.000 units, totaling in 2,901 million, (without calculating seasonal workers), according to the Federal Office for Employment. The economists had predicted a drop of 5.000 units. "The positive developments in the job market are continuing", said however the President of the German employment agency, Frank-Juergen Wiese. "We don't expect significant changes over the next months", he added, underlining that the Agency has confermed its previsions for 2014. The number of employed has grown in July to 42,7 million persons, 57 thousand more compared to June and 341 thousand more than in the previous year. The number of the employed with social insurance (more stable occupations, excluded the so called "mini-jobs") is also growing, reaching 30,17 million persons, 60 thousand more than in May and 549 thousand more than in 2013. Job offers are also growing. In August, the Agency registered 515 thousand available job positions, 44 thousand more compared to 2013 and 11 thousand more than in July. On the other hand, persons currently in search for a job are less numerous than last year by 44 thousand units. (ANSA)
