(ANSA) - LJUBLJANA - Based on all polls, the newly founded Party of Miro Cerar (SMC), established only last month, is the most likely to win at the early elections in Slovenia, scheduled for Sunday. The elections become necessary after the fall of the Bratusek government due to internal disagreements within the leading party, Positive Slovenia.

With the major left-wing party of the outgoing government at the verge of collapse due to internal scission, significant part of Positive Slovenia voters (28% in 2011) is expected to pass their votes to Cerar's party. One of the key points of Cerar's programme is the rethinking of the privatization strategy for the state owned companies started by Bratusek government, a topic close to the left-wing voters.

Due to the collapse of Positive Slovenia, the outgoing premier also founded a new party, the Alliance for Alenka Bratusek (ZaAB). The polls project that Positive Slovenia will not reach the necessary quorum for entering the Parlament (4%), while the projections for ZaAB's are just slightly above. Other left-wing parties expected to reach the quorum are the Social Democrats, and the pensioners party Desus.

The major topic of the right-wing campaign was the imprisonment of their leader, Janez Jansa, former Prime Minister and Secretary of the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS). Jansa's supporters complained that the court sentence agaist him was politically motivated. According to the polls, SDS should come second at the forthcoming elections. Presence in the Parliament also seems assured for New Slovenia, a party of Christian democratic inspiration, while the Slovenian People's Party (SLS) should obtain just above 4%. (ANSA).
